When I took this picture, we were in the cabin by the St-Lawrence River where we have been spending our summers for close to thirty years. The kids all love the camp (that's what they call cabins in the Thousand Islands) and they love the River. When Noah was little, he used to call it: "Maminou's pool" (Maminou is their name for me) and he was awed that we could have such a huge pool. He loved jumping in the river with his life jacket on and going inner tubing with his sisters and everything that had to do with summer on the water. And I loved watching them.
Several of my grandchildren have eyes the color of the River. Noah certainly did. So one day I lined them up and we went for eye pictures. They loved it. I asked them not to move or blink and to keep a serious expression on their faces as their eyes had to be wide open. It wasn't easy for Noah to stay still or serious but he did it. His sisters too. Every time they heard the click of the shutter they rushed me to see how good the picture was. It was a lot of fun...
Yesterday was hard: we went to see the memorials in town. I'll just post one picture (the dove below) because you have probably seen most of them on the news. Then we went to the house and we packed away Noah's clothing so that his sisters wouldn't see it when they go back. We left the toys. They will need something to remember him too.
